While it
is perfectly feasible to do Ben Lui, Beinn a'Chleibh, Ben Oss and Beinn
Dubhchraig in one long day, many prefer to split this group into two,
with Oss and Dubhchraig as a one-day, two-Munro walk. This also obviates
having to make awkward transport arrangements. Start near Dalrigh, just
off the A82 (NN 343 291). Gaiters are a good idea!
From the
car park turn south and cross the River Fillan to splash along a rough
track leading west to a bridge over the rail track. About 300m further
on quit the track and continue to a footbridge. Cross this and continue
up a path southwest through the delightful pinewood with stiles eventually
leading to open slopes above. Continue on a path on the northwest side
of the Allt Coire Dubhchraig to cross a third and final fence. Head up
the grassy coire to gain the steepening slopes just below the summit of
Beinn Dubhchraig (978m).
From the
summit head down northwest to gain a small lochan at about 907m, then
more steeply down to the col. Go up and west then gradually follow the
ridge southwest to gain the summit of Ben Oss at 1029m. The return is
by the same route, dropping down from the small lochan before the summit
of Beinn Dubhchraig to avoid steep ground below the col proper.
