Opened: 1991
The bouldering wall is located inside a large leisure centre. Tucked away behind the swimming pool, this older style DR wall sits in a small, narrow room. Although the wall does look a tad uninspiring, it does offer some good features and problems on vertical and overhanging walls, and the 4m roof is useful for practising roof techniques. As with many walls, you tend to feel a bit shut off from the rest of the world down here, and the evil strip lights may take you back to those school days. Saying that, it is well lit and ventilated. To introduce a bit of life to the place, coloured 'nature' holds have been added so you may find yourself pulling on a bats wing or a tadpole's tail!
Overall verdict:
A bit uninspiring but once you get into it, a good workout can be had.
How to get there:
By bus:
By train: Dundee train station is opposite the leisure centre.
By car: Head towards Dundee Town Centre, then pick up signs for the Discovery Centre (well sign posted).

Wall Description:
Bouldering
This 3 metre high by approx. 22 metre long DR bouldering wall, is made from textured resin panels with bolt-on holds. The walls are vertical, overhanging and feature a 4 metre long roof section, which can be climbed by using holes, bolt-ons and pinches. There are many good features - finger cracks, undercuts and pinches, however some of the resin features are difficult to use and the resin surface could be better (poor friction). The walls are adorned with bolt on holds in the shape of creatures - fish, snakes, frogs, acorns and tadpoles to name a few! Although these have novelty value, they are not particularly practical as hand holds.
