Name: David MacLeod
Age: 22
Occupation: Student (3rd year Physiology & Sports Science)
Base: Bearsden, Glasgow
Description: Dave is one of the 'next generation' of Scottish climbers and a highly motivated all-rounder, repeating some of Scotland's hardest traditional lines, sport climbs and boulder problems.

Many of his hardest repeat ascents, have been made in Scotland and on Peak and Yorkshire gritstone, mostly climbed using the headpoint method. He has climbed over 20 routes of E7+ and E8 in this style, a few of which were first ascents and many second ascents.

This year Dave has put more focus into onsighting, having successfully onsighted many E5's, a few E6's, and recently, his first E7.

On the bouldering front he has achieved Font 8a and, although not such a keen sport climber, he has climbed to a very respectable 8b. He is also showing signs of promise in winter, having climbed a few grade VII's on ice and mixed routes, including an onsight second ascent of Punster's Crack (VII,8) on the Cobbler.

To date his finest achievements include an ascent, placing gear on the lead, of Requiem at Dumbarton, E8 6b; a second ascent of Pongo Sit Start (Font 8a) at Dumbarton boulders; and his ascent of Punster's Crack.
Finest Moment: "The last move on Requiem! The end of a long search for courage and battle with my abilities!"
